There are many different genre's of magazines (rock, hip-hop, metal, classical, pop)
What is the positioning of the magazines in store?
Magazines such as NME, Q and Top of the Pops are positioned at the front of the shelves. However, magazines like Kerrang! are placed behind other magazines due to their sometimes offensive language. They are still visible but also higher up to be out of sight from young children.

What part of magazines is on show the most and which part is shown the least?
The top half of the magazines is displayed clearly to show the magazine name and the image of the band/artist on the front cover. The least displayed part would be the bottom of the magazine which hides the 'plus' bar on most magazines.
How clear is the name of magazine? Is the price clear?
The name of the magazine is displayed very clearly however the price is not. The price is usually printed on the bottom of the magazine by the bar code which is out of plain sight.
What do you notice about the positioning of the major artists? Can you discuss the eyes and why these are important?
Magazines with major artists on the front cover are displayed at the front and are clearly on show as this catches the attention of customers. All artists on the front covers are looking directly at the camera lens to create an effect that they are looking at the potential buyer, this makes the magazine seem inviting.
From doing this task, I have learnt a lot about what the actual sellers of the magazines think about them, and what they do to help them sell. I now have the knowledge of what a shopkeeper thinks sell, and what doesn't, I will be able to locate things such as the price, barcode and any explicit language in a way that helps them sell them.
