Typography

These are examples of typography. These fonts all fit the rock theme and are easy to read, they are more appropriate as a logo design but could also be used in box outs or for pieces of texts designed to give a big impact.

Drop caps often feature at the beginning of an article to draw your eye to it, they are 'dropped' in at the start, often taking up three to four lines of text. It is always the first letter of the first word that is 'dropped' in. It creates a graphological effect on the page and can feature as a vocal point for the page as well. It also indicates to the reader where to start.

From doing this task, I have learnt how to make an article more interesting and how to easily break up a big block of text. This will help me when I decide what to do to make my article really eye catching and interesting. This will hopefully make my magazine successful.

Costume, Prop, Location and Actor Planning

From this task I have learnt to find appropriate fashion to fit the genre of my magazine. I have used realistic ideas which can be easily achieved in real life whilst staying suitable to the style in which I am aiming for.

Magazine Article

From this task I have used my research into terminology and the style of articles used in music magazines of a similar genre to mine to create my own article for a double spread using the correct terminology, with quotes, musical references, humor and informative.

Photo shoot planning

Breakdown Flat Plan

From this task I have used my extensive research of music magazines to think up my own ideas as to what I would like to have in my magazine. I have used my skills previously gained from my Kerrang! flat plan to create my own ideal flat plan therefore improving my skills. I have purposely made my magazine thinner (like Kerrang!) and also to reduce the price and make the magazine more affordable.

From this task I have learnt alot about statistics whilst also improving my research skills. I have learnt to compare my magazine with others. I have also improved my design skills on Photoshop which will prove useful when I come to create my magazine front cover, contents and double page spread.
